Canola Color Change

With the moisture and cooler weather that we've had recently the canola is looking fantastic this season.  Now as the temperature has warmed up and most flowers have fallen off its time to keep a watchful eye on your canola as it begins to ripen and change pod color.  Most everyone I talk to intends to swath their canola.  Timing is important to maximize bushels in the bin.  General rule of thumb is to begin swathing at 50 to 60% color change.  Color change usually starts at the bottom pods and moves up.  If you have any questions or would like for Jeff or myself to aid you in scouting for appropriate color change for swathing feel free to call us.  That's what we are here to do.
